Senate Republicans are digging in their heels to make sure important federal courts remain dominated by majorities of right-wing judges —making up wild stories about how President Obama is engaging in “court packing” simply by nominating people to fill urgent vacancies on the bench!
We made a major breakthrough against the GOP’s obstruction last week when the Senate confirmed Richard Cordray to run the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Tom Perez as Labor Secretary and Gina McCarthy to head the EPA … and the blockade’s also been brought down on two important nominees to the National Labor Relations Board.
…
We have three nominees to the incredibly influential D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals that we must confirm now, and a judicial vacancy crisis affecting federal courts across the country.
…
It’s not just abuse of the filibuster. Republican senators have employed every sneaky tactic and exploited every loophole they could to delay and block President Obama’s judicial nominations …all to keep the balance of the courts stacked towards pro-corporate, ideologically right-wing, Republican-nominated judges.
…
Sincerely,
